What is the abortion pill?
Health Education
The abortion pill is a two-pill process that can be taken up to 10 weeks from the first day of a woman’s last menstrual period (LMP). The two pills are called Mifepristone (RU-486) and Misoprostol (Cytotec) which are taken 24-48 hours apart. Mifepristone is used to block progesterone (this nourishes your baby in your uterus), and Misoprostol causes contractions to empty the uterus.

The abortion pill puts you at a high risk for bleeding, infection, and failed abortion. Confirming that your pregnancy is viable before taking the abortion pill is very important due to the risk of ectopic pregnancy, which is life-threatening, and also the possibility of miscarriage. If you suspect you have an ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage, we encourage you to call 911 and go to the emergency room because these are considered medical emergencies.

Please give us a call at 951-272-3670 to schedule an Abortion Information Consultation so we can confirm whether or not you are pregnant. Remember, you have time to make the healthiest decision for you!

If I use contraceptives, can I still get pregnant?
Health Education
This is a very commonly asked question!

While using contraceptives, it is still possible to get pregnant. No birth control method is 100% effective, and the only way to ensure you do not get pregnant or an STD is to abstain from sexual intercourse.
